Senior System Administrator, Solaris

eSpime is searching for a qualified Senior System Administrator with solid Solaris 10 experience required to join the team of professional consultants in Finland. The right candidate will work at our client’s premises and will participate in project work.

Responsibility:

The main area of responsibility in this position will be administration of Solaris Unix systems, monitoring that the systems are running properly and smoothly, ensuring system efficiency. Senior System Administrator will also provide assistance with troubleshooting of Linux and/or Windows systems.

Key tasks:

  • Performing research and implementation of new systems and networks
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies for the deployment and management of all IT Infrastructure elements (computer systems, networks and storage)
  • Managing operating environments for servers and desktops
  • Administrating emails and other business services and applications
  • Preparing scripts, macros and basic user interfaces
  • Providing other technical support
Qualifications:

In order to succeed in this position it is required to have:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in IT, Engineering or other related field
  • At least 5 years of experience with system administration and support, system engineering and/or architecture
  • Strong Solaris 10 management skills, namely deployment, troubleshooting, patching, ZFS and Zones
  • Excellent scripting knowledge and skills
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with virtualization technologies
  • Good understanding of IP networking and routing
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Enthusiasm for working in a very vivid multicultural environment
Previous experience with SQL databases, Windows server administration, Linux, RedHat or CentOS will be considered as an advantage.

  • Excellent spoken and written English skills; Finnish language is optional
  • Team player, but also able to work independently
  • Good advisory and business skills
  • Flexibility when ever needed regarding working hours and working methods
  • Proactive approach to work, accuracy and possibility to meet deadlines
